S.F. Civic Center Victory Garden

Beginning yesterday, volunteers began the process of ripping up the turf at S.F. civic center (it’ll be replanted in other city parks) and putting in its place a garden of edible crops. They will be planting heritage vegetables and edible flowers. The event is sponsored by Slow Food Nation in partnership with Victory Gardens 2008. The crops should be ready for harvest around labor day and will be part of a slow food celebration complete with tastings. Much of the produce will go to local food banks. They are in need of volunteers. Volunteer now by emailing them at: info@slowfoodnation.org
